Figure 31. Annual load of specific compounds in streams in relation to agricultural use in the drainage basin of a particular stream. Each value represents the annual load of the compound at one site. The diagonal lines represent theoretical percentages of the amount used in the basin. For example, a point on the lowest diagonal line means that the estimated load of that pesticide ar a particular sampling site was 0.01 percent of the amount applied agriculturally in the basin of that site. Agricultural-use data are from Gianessi and Anderson (1996).
