Figure 30. Annual load of total (A) herbicides and (B) insecticides in streams in relation to agricultural use in the drainage basin of a particular stream. Each value represents the annual load of total herbicides or total insecticides at one site. The diagonal lines represent theoretical percentages of the amount of used in the basin. For example, a point on the lowest diagonal line means that the estimated load of one pesticide at a particular sampling site was 0.01 percent of the amount applied agriculturally in the basin of that site. Agricultural-use data are from Gianessi and Anderson (1996).
