Submit a Geospatial Dataset to the USGS WRD NSDI Node

Use this form to have your GIS dataset, GW Model, metadata, or other data archive served or updated on the USGS WMA NSDI Node.
Since the merging of (formerly) Geospatial One Stop into Data.gov - all data associated with the USGS WRD NSDI Node is directly loaded into Data.gov, GeoPlatForm.gov, and USGS Science Data Catalog (SDC).

Please follow the instructions for your archive submittal. Click on the help! link if you are uncertain of what to put in the form.

If you have more than one dataset or model to archive (.mdb, .gdb, .shp, raster, etc., file) you should have more than one metadata (.xml) file. Please submit this form for each of those archives, referencing each of your data sets and each metadata file or contact the Mike Ierardi to let him to let him know that you would like to do multiple (batch) archive requests at once.

Now that you're ready to fill out the form below, please be sure that you have compressed (winzip) your GIS data files or for groundwater model folders into compressed folders:
  1. The XML file of your metadata does not need to be compressed.
  2. Distribution files (the GIS data) for the dataset should be compressed in a folder.
  3. For groundwater modelers - a specific compressed directory structure is used for their model archive (ancillary.zip, bin.zip, model.zip, etc ....).
  4. A graphic representation of your data (browse graphic)
NOTE TO GW Modelers creating Archives: If your compressed files are over 6 GB in size or you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mike Ierardi at (703) 648-5649 about how we can reduce your file sizes. Very large files cause problems with slow uploads, slow downloads, and have the potential for becoming corrupted files when being transferred across the network !

Uploading Your Files: For the USGS WRD NSDI Spatial Node to access your Archive Request, please place your compressed (.zip) data file(s) on the USGS Enterprise FTP Service by either creating your own regional directory path and folder, or you can use the node directory at (ftp://ftpint.usgs.gov/pub/er/va/reston/mierardi/node) which has already been setup for you on the USGS Enterprise FTP Service.

Note: It would be nice if you could create a folder
(Examples: JohnSmith_archive or sir2019-0001 and place your compressed files inside)
for your archive before transferring the data to the ftp site.

Example of creating a folder and a data download:
Example: https://water.usgs.gov/GIS/dsdl/gwmodels/sir2019-0001/model.zip.
This path is also listed in the metadata for the downloads to work correctly.
If your total archive directory project is 8 gigs or larger in file size or have any questions,
please contact Mike Ierardi 703 648-5649, to see how to reduce your file sizes.

Remember all users hate downloading large files that take forever to download !

ENTER THE PATH (ftp site) IN THE BOX BELOW SO WE CAN FIND YOUR FILES.

•  NOTE: If this is a MODEL ARCHIVE paste the following sentence into the ADDITIONAL INFORMATION box below:
"This is a model archive please create a directory named /dsdl/gwmodels/<USGS SERIES NUMBER>"
Where <USGS SERIES NUMBER> is, for example, SIR2020-XXXX or OFR2020-XXXX or etc.,

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION (if any): To help us expediting your archive.

Extended comments and questions may be sent via email to Water WebServer Team or to Mike Ierardi at mierardi@usgs.gov.
