ModelMuse Help

The ESL: GWE Energy Source Loading Package pane is on the MODFLOW Features tab of the Object Properties dialog box.

The data that can be specified for the ESL package are the Starting time, Ending time, Energy Source Active, Energy Source, Energy Source Multiplier and the Chemical Species. However, the Chemical Species is always set to "Temperature."

The Energy Source is the energy source loading rate for the selected Chemical Species (which is always "Temperature"). A positive value indicates addition of energy and a negative value indicates removal of energy. If SI units are used for the model, the units of energy are Joules. If other unit are used in the model, the units of energy should be adjusted appropriately.

"Energy Source Active" can be used to turn on or off a ESL boundary. If the formula for Energy Source Active evaluates to True, a energy source loading loading boundary will be defined. If it evaluates to False, a energy source loading boundary will not be defined. This can be used to turn on or off energy source loading boundaries at different locations based on a criterion specified by the user. Such a capability can be useful for specifying tidal boundaries where some locations may be alternately flooded or exposed.

Energy Source Multiplier is only used if it has been activated in the ESL: GWE Energy Source Loading Package. If Energy Source Multiplier is specified, the concentration is multiplied by the Energy Source Multiplier value.

Starting time and Ending time are explained in the help for the MODFLOW Features tab.
