WELCOME TO THE RESERVOIR SEDIMENTATION (RESSED) DATABASE
Please read the following before using this website.
RESSED is (2013) and will remain a “work in progress” for years. The Subcommittee on Sedimentation in general, and the RESSED programming team in particular appreciate your patience and support as we endeavor to render RESSED as useful as possible.
This RESSED website is being partially renovated to reflect progress made on RESSED since the website was initially posted in 2009. Progress since then includes:
- porting RESSED to the Filemaker Pro database management system,
- development of data-entry, reports, training, and quality-assurance modules,
- reservoir-capacity data provided by the Army Corps of Engineers and Bureau of Reclamation starting in FY2012,
- an April 26, 2013, interim release of RESSED data (see the “Database Download and Documentation” section), and
- Implementation of a permanent maintenance-level-funded RESSED project under the auspices of the U.S. Geological Survey.
The April 26, 2013, data release is anticipated to be followed by other data releases based on accumulation of additional RESSED data and on progress in enhancing RESSED architecture.
Although a mid-term RESSED goal is to enable public updating and retrieval from the Filemaker Pro database management system, the Subcommittee on Sedimentation regrets that this capability is available only to member organizations of the ACWI Subcommittee on Sedimentation until further notice.
Aside from this home page, the aforementioned “Database Download and Documentation” section, and the “Acknowledgements” section, the remainder of the website has been static since 2009 and in some cases is out-of-date. Please be patient as we compile the information necessary to render this website more current.
The following information first appeared in Spring 2009 on this home page:The Advisory Committee on Water Information, Subcommittee on Sedimentation’s Reservoir Sedimentation (RESSED) database enables access to sedimentation-survey data for selected United States reservoirs. These data or their visual representation are available via:
- A Relational Database containing all Subcommittee on Sedimentation’s compiled reservoir-survey information to facilitate analyses related to reservoir-sediment deposition.
- Interactive Maps for viewing reservoir-survey locations and ancillary information, and
- List of Reservoirs and Individual Data Sheets used to populate the relational database for all but two of the surveyed reservoirs.
RESSED, developed in March 2009 from its predecessor RESIS-II, is a work-in-progress, dynamic database. The Subcommittee on Sedimentation seeks additional or revised quality-assured sediment-survey information to improve and expand RESSED.
