The MODPATH Endpoint Display pane is on the Data Visualization dialog box. It is used to import an endpoint file generated by MODPATH and to control how the endpoints are displayed. The MODPATH Endpoint Display pane is displayed by selecting MODPATH Endpoints on the Data Visualization dialog box.
The MODPATH Endpoint Display pane has three tabs: Basic, Options and Legend.
MODPATH endpoint file is the name of the endpoint file to be displayed.Show endpoints: If this checkbox is checked, the endpoints will be displayed. (In MODFLOW 6 models, endpoints are only displayed on the front view if the cross section has an angle of zero.) Limit to current column, row and layer in 2D views: If this checkbox is checked, only those endpoints that are in the current layer (top view), current row (front view) or current column (side view) will be displayed. Checking this checkbox helps keep the display from being hard to understand because too many endpoints are displayed. Endpoint size (pixels): This is the size in pixels at which endpoints will be displayed. Different color schemes can be used to associate a given value of the data set, boundary condition, or MODPATH data with a color. The desired color scheme is selected in the combo box near the bottom of the dialog box. The range of colors in the selected color scheme is displayed below the combo box. To cycle through the range of colors for a color scheme more than one time, change the value in the edit box labeled Cycles. Because different monitors will display the colors slightly differently, the color adjustment can be used to optimize the appearance of the data. See Light and Bartlein (2004, 2005), and Stephenson (2005) for more information about color schemes. If the model has one or more child models, you must choose the correct model in Model selection. (Model selection is only visible in MODFLOW-LGR models.) |
What to show: These radio buttons are used to limit which endpoints are displayed.
Show all: All the endpoints will be displayed.
Limit by location, zone, or time: The values entered for the Lower and Upper limits for the specified Limiting Factors will be used to determine which endpoints will be displayed. Only those endpoints that meet the criteria will be displayed.
Where to plot: The endpoints. can be displayed at either their starting or ending locations. Displaying the endpoints at their starting locations can be useful when backwards particle tracking is used especially if only those endpoints are displayed that ended up at a location of interest.
Color by: These radio buttons are used to select the data used to color the endpoints.
None: The endpoints will all be black.
Release Time: The endpoints will be colored according to the times at which they were released. If the check box for Color Limits in the table is checked, the Lower and Upper limits will determine the color for the points whose release times lie between Lower and Upper limits. Points whose release times lie outside the Lower and Upper limits will be colored black.
Tracking Time: The endpoints will be colored according to the times at which they stopped. If the check box for Color Limits in the table is checked, the Lower and Upper limits will determine the color for the points whose tracking times lie between Lower and Upper limits. Points whose tracking times lie outside the Lower and Upper limits will be colored black.
Starting X': The endpoints will be colored according to the starting X' coordinate (X coordinate in the grid coordinate system) of the endpoint. If the check box for Color Limits is checked, the Lower and Upper limits will determine the color for the points whose starting X' values lie between Lower and Upper limits. Points whose starting X' values lie outside the Lower and Upper limits will be colored black.
Starting Y': The endpoints will be colored according to the starting Y' coordinate (Y coordinate in the grid coordinate system) of the endpoint. If the check box for Color Limits is checked, the Lower and Upper limits will determine the color for the points whose starting Y' values lie between Lower and Upper limits. Points whose starting Y' values lie outside the Lower and Upper limits will be colored black.
Starting Z: The endpoints will be colored according to the starting Z coordinate of the endpoint. If the check box for Color Limits is checked, the Lower and Upper limits will determine the color for the points whose starting Z values lie between Lower and Upper limits. Points whose starting Z values lie outside the Lower and Upper limits will be colored black.
Starting Zone: The endpoints will be colored according to the zone number of the zone in which they were released endpoint. If the check box for Color Limits is checked, the Lower and Upper limits will determine the color for the points whose starting zone numbers lie between Lower and Upper limits. Points whose starting zone values lie outside the Lower and Upper limits will be colored black.
Ending X': The endpoints will be colored according to the ending X' coordinate (X coordinate in the grid coordinate system) of the endpoint. If the check box for Color Limits is checked, the Lower and Upper limits will determine the color for the points whose ending X' values lie between Lower and Upper limits. Points whose ending X' values lie outside the Lower and Upper limits will be colored black.
Ending Y': The endpoints will be colored according to the ending Y' coordinate (Y coordinate in the grid coordinate system) of the endpoint. If the check box for Color Limits is checked, the Lower and Upper limits will determine the color for the points whose ending Y' values lie between Lower and Upper limits. Points whose ending Y' values lie outside the Lower and Upper limits will be colored black.
Ending Z: The endpoints will be colored according to the ending Z coordinate of the endpoint. If the check box for Color Limits is checked, the Lower and Upper limits will determine the color for the points whose ending Z values lie between Lower and Upper limits. Points whose ending Z values lie outside the Lower and Upper limits will be colored black.
Ending Zone: The endpoints will be colored according to the zone number of the zone in which they were released endpoint. If the check box for Color Limits is checked, the Lower and Upper limits will determine the color for the points whose ending zone numbers lie between Lower and Upper limits. Points whose ending zone values lie outside the Lower and Upper limits will be colored black.
Group: The endpoints will be colored according to the particle group number to which they belong. In ModelMuse, each object that defines the starting locations of particles defines a separate group number. Group numbers are not included in MODPATH 5.
The legend tab shows how the displayed colors relate to their values. Note that cell values are also displayed on the Status Bar of the main ModelMuse window and in the Grid or Mesh Value dialog box.
ModelMuse can calculate appropriate values to include in the legend but if different values are desired, the user can change the Method from automatic to manual, specify the number of rows to include in the legend, and specify the values to include in the legend.
The Font button is used to specify the font used in the legend. The font is used both in the Legend tab and in the Export Image dialog box.
