A groundwater withdrawal footprint is a way of graphically representing the magnitude of groundwater withdrawals from wells on a gridded map. The map is solely an illustration of the withdrawal magnitudes, spatially centered on wells -- it is not the capture zones or the source areas of recharge flowing to the wells (Goode, 2016).
An iterative process is used to determine the footprint. Variables controlling the iterative process are specified in the WellFootprint Properties dialog box. The withdrawal rates of wells are defined by point objects. The DepthRateIndex data set needs to be specified. Then you can color or contour the grid with one of the output data sets such as Distributed_Withdrawals or Footprint_Code. It is also possible to import a background image to help when designing the model.
