Project Summary: Previous research funded by the PRWRRI led to the development of a low-cost and rapid bacteriological water quality biosensor that quantifies E. faecalis within three hours, using small sample volumes and minimal reagents. The biosensor employs rapid prototyping, microfabrication, microfluidics, and AI algorithms for real-time in situ analysis. The proposal aims to explore how Multispectral Imaging (MI), which excites samples at varying wavelengths from UV to IR, can be used for bacteria quantification in a low-cost system. This project builds on previous funding to continue developing tools for water quality monitoring, including AI-based bacteriological quantification.
