Project Summary: Groundwater wells provide water measurement and monitoring only at the locations of the wells, but electrical resistivity tomography can provide a map of subsurface variations between wells. However, we need an improved method for converting electrical resistivity maps into maps of groundwater to locate the groundwater table between wells. We will use machine learning and image processing methods to address this need, which will increase the accuracy of groundwater volume measurement and monitoring to support water use sustainability even with climate change stresses.
