Understanding the impacts of light-absorbing particles on New Mexico mountain snowpack.

Institute: New Mexico
Year Established: 2025 Start Date: 2026-01-01 End Date: 2026-12-31
Total Federal Funds: $40,000 Total Non-Federal Funds: $40,000

Principal Investigators: Enrico Zorzetto

Project Summary: Objective of this project is conducting a pilot measurement campaign at multiple locations in the New Mexico mountains (Jemez and Sandias), measuring snow albedo and sampling the content of impurities in snow. These observations will be used to evaluate the skill of remote sensing datasets over the region, and in turn help constrain the variability of water resources in New Mexico.
