Project Summary: Water is a key to resource for people and for healthy ecosystems on which humans also depend. Unlike weather forecasting, understanding the water cycle and water supply as well as forecasting water restrictions is not readily available to the public. This project takes the first steps in developing an app and app template that makes information about elements of the water cycle (pumping rates, rainfall, river flows, ground water supplies, soil moisture, etc.) available on one's computer or phone and easily understandable for people using interactive graphic plots and visual indicators. Integrating this information in a common platform will facility discussions among residents, municipal, state and federal employees, and environmental advocates such as watershed associations.
