Project Summary: This study focuses on understanding how water moves through the Ugum Watershed, which is important because Fena Lake?located within this watershed?is a major source of drinking water for Guam. The type of water source (like surface water or groundwater) affects how we plan, design, and manage systems to collect, clean, and deliver water. To protect and manage this water source, we need to know how soil erosion and nutrients travel through the watershed over time and space. This project will combine fieldwork and computer modeling. First, we will collect water quality data. Then, we will use computer tools like SWAT or EFDC to model the flow of water and the movement of soil and nutrients in the rivers. In the next phase, we will continue collecting data and improving the models to support better watershed management.
