Assessing Stream Health in West Tennessee: Advancing Scalable GIS and Remote Sensing Techniques for Stream System Analysis

Institute: Tennessee
Year Established: 2024 Start Date: 2024-09-01 End Date: 2025-08-31
Total Federal Funds: $23,548 Total Non-Federal Funds: $24,898

Principal Investigators: Youngsang Kwon

Project Summary: The primary objectives of the project include developing effective remote sensing-based indices for stream health assessment, validating these indices through advanced machine learning techniques, and then applying them to previously unassessed streams in the region to classify their health. By doing so, the project seeks to provide conservation agencies and water resource managers with powerful tools to more effectively monitor and manage stream health.
