Project Summary: The proposed project will address the following research questions concerning microcystin occurrence and distribution on the Stones River in Murfreesboro, TN: 1) How does microcystin concentration vary throughout the year, and what water quality factors correspond with this? 2) Is microcystin being transported from the aquatic to the terrestrial food web and bioaccumulated by aquatic and terrestrial organisms? 3) Are mussels appropriate sentinels for microcystin accumulation and toxicity? 4) Does cyanobacterial eDNA increase before a HAB?
