Project Summary: The Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands’ (CNMI) water source system utilizes production wells to extract groundwater. These production wells in island groundwater tend to draw up chloride from sea-water beneath the freshwater lens, and there are more than 200 production wells to monitor. To manage and minimize salinity, samples are often taken and recorded, and to further simplify the management system is a quick historic reference type of database that is via interactive map and graph data visualization system. In 2023, WERI has built a MAppFx data visualization historic database of nitrates for CNMI that has the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality requesting for the chlorides next. This project will build CNMI’s MAppFx database and data visualization system for chloride.
