Project Summary: At the WERI FSM Advisory Council Meeting, the Water Department of the Pohnpei Utilities Corporation and a representative of Sapwuahfik Atoll requested WERI to help with water resource management and planning on Pohnpei Island and Sapwuahfik Atoll, respectively. Pohnpei Island has a strong need for increased water supplies against the growing demand. Drilling new wells proved to be time consuming and costly because the boreholes too often do not reach the prolific parts of the aquifer. Underground imaging will thus help identifying the best spots for well drilling.
