Project Summary: For the past few years, research has been conducted to focus on patterns and trends of salinity levels in Finegayan, Yigo-Tumon and Hatgana, and Mangilao Basins. The analysis of salinity in these basins indicates that the relationship between salinity levels and well productions and precipitation is dynamic, though the patterns and trends of most of the wells follow the conclusions: increase of well pumping rates causes increase of salinity levels, and increase of precipitation results in decrease if salinity levels. However, the patterns and tends of some wells do not follow the phenomena. Salinity is a continuous concern of water quality in Guam. This proposal will focus on analysis of salinity problems in all of six basins in the NGLA, and evaluation of differences and similarities of patterns and trends of salinity for individual and basin-based wells in space and over time among the basins in the study area.
