Project Summary: Information from the water budget is crucial for ensuring water supply and availability. This project will improve the quantification of the water budget in the Contiguous United States using a hierarchical modeling system through collaboration between Utah State University and USGS. We will perform a rigorous quantification of the water budget across the U.S. In particular, we will evaluate the water budget components and the uncertainties caused by hydroclimate forcings and their impacts on the water budget. Furthermore, information derived from this study will enlighten users and managers regarding future changes in water budget components, which will be extremely useful for water resource management.
