Project Summary: Floods frequently impact North Dakota, causing significant damage and costing millions of dollars. Current methods to monitor water infrastructure, like remote sensors, have limitations and can't provide detailed information about the local effects of floods. In recent years, social media platforms like Twitter have shown potential for providing situational awareness during natural disasters. This study aims to develop a new framework that combines advanced data analysis techniques to gather reliable information about water infrastructure disruptions from Twitter. By using this approach, we can improve our understanding of how floods affect communities and infrastructure. This will help decision-makers and first responders better plan for and respond to flood situations, ultimately making water infrastructure more resilient in the face of natural disasters.
