Project Summary: This project aims to investigate the removal, accumulation, and magnification of PFAS in natural and constructed wetlands. The research will involve collecting and analyzing water, sediment, and biota samples from multiple sites in the wetlands to determine the levels of PFAS contamination. The study will also investigate the bioaccumulation and biomagnification of PFAS in different wetland trophic levels. The results will be used to identify the sources and pathways of PFAS contamination in the wetland systems and assess the potential risks to human and ecological health. The information gathered will also be used to develop strategies to mitigate and manage the risks associated with PFAS contamination in constructed wetland systems. Overall, this study will contribute to our understanding of the impacts of PFAS on wetland ecosystems and provide valuable information for environmental management and policy development.
