Project Summary: The Army Corps of Engineers in Chicago is in planning stages for implementing an environmental flow recommendation process as a collaborative effort with Indiana agencies and aquatic scientists. This proposal seeks funding for pre-flow manipulation sampling on the upper Wabash River, Indiana (USA), to eventually test for effects of modifying dam operations on fish and macroinvertebrate assemblages. Although similar projects have been conducted in other watersheds, few have produced details of before and after fish assemblages (Souchon et al. 2008). Our proposal follows the template described by Souchon et al. (2008) for validation monitoring to detect biological responses to flow modification.
