Project Summary: Conventional methods for fecal bacteria testing in water have high sensitivity and specificity but provide delayed responses. Advances in rapid-prototyping, microfabrication, and microfluidics have allowed the development of specific, sensitive, and robust biosensors that are capable of detection using small sample volumes and little reagents, with little or no sample preparation and can provide information using artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms in real-time. This proposal is for the continued development of a platform for rapid in situ bacteriological detection of ambient water samples. This proposal is a continuation of a PRWRERI FY 2022 funded proposal.
