Abstract: The proposal addresses Research Priority Area 2 in the WRRI RFP for the FY 2017-2018 competitive grants program, specifically innovative processes of water treatment to remove perand poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFASs). PFASs have been widely used in firefighting foams, lubricants, food packaging, adhesives, electroplating, and stain resistant coating in clothing and carpets. Due to their low vapor pressure and high solubility, PFASs tend to accumulate in surface water and groundwater.
