Project Summary: Information transfer in the form of linking knowledge to action in central to the mission of the Maine Water Resources Research Institute (Maine WRRI) and the Mitchell Center. The Maine WRRI provides key technical resources to support water research in Maine and to link research results to the needs of broadly distributed constituencies. In this manner we address research, education, and outreach in a systematically integrated manner. Our goal in FY18 is to build on past success to enhance and expand our information transfer activities. Using part-time staff and funding from various sources, the Maine WRRI will continue to disseminate research results, organize meetings, participate in statewide forums, serve on committees dealing with water resource issues, work with K-12 teachers and students, and support special projects. The close working association with the Mitchell Center provides a primary portal to access the substantial technical abilities of the University of Maine on issues related to water resources and more broadly with a large number of stakeholders and collaborators. No other agency, entity or organization in Maine can provide the same breadth and depth of topical water-resources knowledge and experience.
