Project Summary: The mission statement of the CT IWR includes education of the public regarding water resource issues. To help fulfill this objective, the Institute has a Technology Transfer Project that supports a number of ongoing efforts involving information and/or technology transfer. Examples include support of seminars, conferences, general dissemination of water related information and publication of special reports related to CT IWR on its web site. The project also may include special projects such as the development of educational materials for local officials. All of these activities are funded through the Institute's 104B grant under the general framework of "Water Resources Technology Transfer Program" of the National Institutes of Water Resources (NIWR). The 5 year reviews by NIWR of each institute includes evaluations of technology transfer and education. The focus of the CT IWR 2016 information transfer program will be the development of educational materials for the public, especially those officials making land use decisions at a local level, and disseminating the results of our funded research projects to a wider audience through our web site. In addition we will continue to cosponsor local conferences and the departmental seminar series.
