Measuring water quality and subsurface restoration effects along Obion Creek floodplain, western Kentucky

Institute: Kentucky
Year Established: 2015 Start Date: 2015-03-01 End Date: 2016-02-29
Total Federal Funds: $5,000 Total Non-Federal Funds: $10,000

Principal Investigators: Gary Stinchcomb

Project Summary: This research project will examine how riparian restoration affects surface and subsurface water quality along the Obion Creek restoration complex in western Kentucky. Hydrological and geomorphological field and lab techniques will be used to examine long-term (> 10 years) restoration effects on water quality and subsurface floodplain properties using water quality data, core-profile descriptions, particle-size distributions, soil pH, and carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus content.
