Visible water quality dynamics over the receding limbs of the hydrograph in five Northwest Arkansas recreational rivers

Institute: Arkansas
Year Established: 2014 Start Date: 2014-03-01 End Date: 2015-02-28
Total Federal Funds: $6,000 Total Non-Federal Funds: $6,524

Principal Investigators: Jefferson Scott, Amie West

Project Summary: The proposed project goals are to measure total suspended solids, total phosphorus, chlorophyll-a, and visibility in five Northwest Arkansas recreational rivers. The data will help to answer questions about how optical water quality varies with discharge during the receding limb of the hydrographs and how the listed parameters contribute to that variability. Data collected at stations on the Buffalo River, Kings River, Illinois River, Mulberry River, and War Eagle Creek can help understand those factors that influence perceptions of water quality during periods of increased recreation.
