Project Summary: Our intent is to assess the occurrence of synthetic estrogen in the Barren River Watershed upstream and downstream of Bowling Green, Kentucky and in the municipal water supply. For the purposes of this project, we will obtain baseline data to evaluate exposure of residents to synthetic estrogen (17a-ethinylestradiol/ EE2: active ingredient in birth control) through the community drinking water supply and assess concentrations of synthetic estrogen downstream from the city after wastewater and stormwater inputs to the river.
