Abstract: We propose to examine reservoir sediment cores from two Kansas reservoirs for markers or indicators of specific hydrologic, biologic, and environmental events in the history of those reservoirs. Our proposed project will explore a suite of analysis techniques appropriate for sediment chronosequencing in recent reservoir sediments. The work will define appropriate analysis techniques for comparatively young reservoir sediments and contribute to the understanding of processes that drive sedimentation and impairment of these water bodies.
