Abstract: The Idaho Water Resources Research Institute supports a robust outreach and engagement mission supported by a 0.5 FTE Outreach and K-12 Education Coordinator position. Accredited educator workshops featuring Project WET and Idaho Streamwalk provide approximately 300 K-12 teachers with curricular and field experiences to take back to their Idaho classrooms each year. Splash Water Festival and events offered during Idaho Water Awareness Week directly involve K-12 students in activities that help them to understand better the issues related to this critical resource. IWRRI also has a mission to distribute its research activities and findings to the general public. In addition to formal research reports published in technical journals, IWRRI regularly publishes material and provides presentations for the lay audience. IWRRI sponsors a range of timely conferences, workshops, short-courses and seminars that focus on water and environmental management issues of importance to Idaho and the region.
