Project Summary: Tropical islands are expected to see population growth into the coming decades. This rise in population in a changing climatic regime will stress the available water resources, cause problems with the disposal of solid and liquid wastes, and will require more energy. Most islands are import dependent. Rising energy prices will further complicate the situation. A conference is proposed in collaboration with water centers in Guam, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands to address issues and to develop potential solutions.
