Project Summary: The West Virginia Water Research Institute will compile independently collected data, as well as data collected by other organizations, municipalities, and agencies to build a website that utilizes a Geographic Information System (GIS) database. The website will provide visitors with a user-friendly, color-coded ranking of the general health and well being of the fishery, fishing opportunities, and fishing success on the Monongahela River, the Tygart Lake, the Cheat Lake, and the Stonewall Jackson Lake. Statistical analyses will compare the current water quality to historic conditions that will determine the ranking. Additionally, this information will be included in the Morgantown Dominion Post. The West Virginia Watershed Network, Allegany Energy, Morgantown Utility Board, and West Virginia Department of Natural Resources, will assist by providing information on tributaries and un-wadeable rivers in our focus area
