Abstract: Serious droughts and increasing competition for water have exacerbated water use disputes in Pennsylvania in recent years leading to the passage of the Water Resources Planning Act. This Act includes the creation of a Water Conservation Technical Assistance Center to promote water use efficiency in homes, businesses and farms. This project seeks to develop a team of extension professionals that can develop and deliver educational resources related to water conservation. We propose to hold a two-day coordination and inservice workshop on water conservation for the project team to organize existing resources, develop new tools (publications, portable classrooms, video scripts, etc.) and identify future needs that can be addressed in subsequent grant proposals. Student support will be used to develop a clearinghouse of existing water conservation resources that can be added to the water extension web site. Resources developed early in this project will be used to deliver various water conservation programs throughout the state, especially in areas targeted as Critical Water Planning Areas in the upcoming State Water Plan.
