Project Summary: Silver nanomaterial has been proved effective in the deactivation of more than 16 different species of bacteria. Little research has focused on the utilization of these nanoparticles for water treatment disinfection. The research in this proposal will provide sufficient information to determine the potential benefits of the disinfectant properties of silver nanoparticles for different water chemistries and for a wide variety of pathogenic microorganisms.
