Abstract: This research will examine the emergence of sustainable stormwater management practices in Austin, Texas from social and technical perspectives. The hypothesis of the study is that emerging technical practices are dependent on technical strategies as well as cultural conditions of particular regions. The study will employ a qualitative case study approach to better understand the complex relationship between urban infrastructure development processes and regional context. Findings from the study will be used to highlight the socio-technical nature of urban infrastructure networks and to develop qualitative methods to assess these networks from multiple perspectives.
