Project Summary: We propose to measure female hormones in both water and suspended solids collected from the watersheds of Central and Northern New Jersey. The goal of the study is to distinguish the contributions of treated wastewater and combined sewer overflows to the female hormones detected in the watersheds. The quantitative analyses of these chemicals will be performed with LC-MS-MS using the published methods and procedures. The study will aid in future regulation of these emerging chemicals and selections of different measures for pollution reduction at watershed scales.
