Abstract: This proposal is for a two year project to develop, evaluate and document a digital geospatial database to support water allocation planning and watershed assessment in Connecticut and to develop a GIS supported assessment framework. The proposal addresses a specific need identified by a workgroup of the Connecticut Water Planning Council. Geospatial datasets, identified by the workgroup, will constitute a core set of basic data layers that have been identified as being necessary for water allocation and basin assessment efforts. The GIS database developed through this project will be available to federal, state, regional and municipal governmental units, utilities, and other interest stakeholders. The project also will investigate the use of standardized geoprocessing procedures implemented with ESRIs ModelBuilder to provide a flexible yet repeatable assessment framework.
