Project Summary: A core objective of the Maine Water Resources Research Institute, part of the Mitchell Center, is to use information transfer activities to foster increased cooperation and communication among the academic community, state agencies, environmental organizations, private citizens, and private companies. The Mitchell Center is viewed as the first option within the State of Maine to access the substantial technical abilities of the University of Maine on issues related to water resources. The Maine Water Resources Research Institute is used to make research accessible. Using this grant, part-time staff and other non-federal funding, the Center will continue to disseminate research results, organize meetings, participate in statewide forums, serve on committees dealing with water resource issues, work with teachers and students, and conduct special projects. We continue to be the primary organizer of the annual Maine Water Conference. The Institute publishes informational digests on topical issues. Also, we continue to improve our web hosting of lakes information and reports.
