Project Summary: Funding will support a number of projects at the WRRC. One major project for 2004 is the statewide water conference sponsored by the WRRC. This years conference is examining the future of agricultural water use in Arizona. The conference, also billed as a conference-dialogue, is planned as an opportunity for representatives of the agricultural sector to discuss their views on the use of diminishing water supplies. Scheduled for April 28, 2004 in Casa Grande, the event is a joint venture involving WRRC and the University of Arizonas Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics. The spring event is the latest in a series of conferences sponsored by the WRRC. The intent of the conferences is to provide a forum for various state interests to discus critical water issues. The WRRC will continue its regular bi-monthly Arizona Water Resource newsletter with occasional special issues of the Arroyo newsletter that examines prominent issues in more depth. A special Issue Paper will be prepared on Transboundary Water Issues in Arizona. The Center will also continue to present its brown bag seminar series, which provides a forum for researchers, applied and social scientists, and planners to convene to learn about and discuss water resources issues. We are currently making improvements on our web page. These upgrades and additions will continue into the next year.
