Project Summary: During this application period, 104 funds will be used to provide full editorial support for the VWRRC newsletter (Virginia Water Central). Four to five issues of "Virginia Water Central" are produced each year. Hard copies and electronic copies are distributed and also posted on the VWRRC Website (www.vwrrc.vt.edu). Other activities covered under 104 funds include: 1. Partial funding of personnel cost for program development and management of "Service Training for Environmental Progress" (STEP). STEP is a community outreach and service-learning program of the VWRRC. Center staff work closely with community leaders to identify water-related problems, and serve as a link between community and university faculty and students who will take on the projects. VWRRC seeks external funding to support the ongoing program. 2. Partial funding of personnel cost to assist with organizing the Annual Virginia Water Research Symposium and to assist with the administrative tasks of the Virginia Water Monitoring Council. 3. Personnel cost to maintain the VWRRC library, videos and slide shows. University faculty, students, local and state agency personnel and citizens are clients of the VWRRC's library. VWRRC staff responds to numerous requests each month.
