Project Summary: The annual Water and the Future of Kansas Conference is an event sponsored by the Kansas Water Resources Institute. The conference is an important venue for disseminating results of research sponsored by KWRI; serves as a "Water Resources Town Meeting" to discuss important current topics in water resources or to identify research needs, agency needs, and technology transfer needs in water resources; and provides a forum for water resources professionals to share information. The venure for this year's conference is proposedto be Lawrence, KS on March 5, 2002. The host will be the Kansas Geological Survey. The proposed conferece program includes a plenary session, a Town Hall Meeting with the Kansas gubernatorial candidates, concurrent sessions, and a poster session. Most of the expenses of the conference are covered by registration fees. Federal funds in the amount of $5500 are requested to cover costs related to invited speakers, the published proceedings, the printed program, and other miscellaneous expenses.
