StreamStats News Service

A StreamStats News Service allows internal exchange of information and ideas about StreamStats. The News Service is an electronic bulletin board that can be accessed at http://edcintranet.cr.usgs.gov/BB/. New users must register by clicking on the Register link near the top middle of the page. Once registered, click on the StreamStats Web Application link to access our news service. You will receive an email notice each time a new topic has been posted on StreamStats.

Implementation Planning Spreadsheet

A spreadsheet for tracking the status of StreamStats implementation projects is posted at http://privusgs2.er.usgs.gov/display/StreamStats/Implementation+Planning+Spreadsheet. The spreadsheet can be viewed by any internal user. To view the spreadsheet, click on the Attachments tab and then on the file name, ImplementationOverviewChecklist.xlsx. You will then be prompted to open or save the document, which can be opened only in read-only format. Please notify the StreamStats development team at streamstats@usgs.gov if any of the information on the spreadsheet should be updated. Note that much of the information for applications that already are implemented is not filled in. It is the team's intention to keep this spreadsheet current, but any historical information that can be provided is appreciated.

StreamStatsDB Database and User Interface

The StreamStatsDB database and user interface are used by Water Science Center (WSC) staff to enter data-collection station information (descriptive information, basin characteristics, and streamflow statistics) for display in StreamStats. A unique database is now being prepared for each WSC that contains only data relevant to the WSC. WSC staff who wish to update the database should contact Kernell Ries, who will provide instructions for obtaining a clone of the database that is specific for the state, a copy of the user interface software used to update the database, a README file, and example input files. The README file should be read before attempting to install and run the program.

GIS Data Preparation Training

The processing of geospatial datasets needed for use delineating drainage basins and computing basin characteristics is typically the largest part of any StreamStats project. This work generally takes advanced GIS skills. The StreamStats team provides occasional training opportunities on methods for preparing the needed data. The methods have changed somewhat over time. Links to the most recent training materials are provided below:
