The Wyndham Old San Juan Hotel has been chosen as our lodging for the next ITAC meeting in Puerto Rico

For individual Call-in reservations, guests must call the Hotel's Reservations Department at (787) 721-5100 -- BY COB JANUARY 10 and request the room(s) blocked under the Group's name (US Geological Survey).

Hotel agrees to send at no charge confirmation of reservations and/or reservation changes to the registered guests within seven (7) days of receipt of such information.

Name changes to room reservations may be made within 24-hours prior to arrival at no charge, if there is no change to the arrival and departure dates. All changes must be directed to the Hotel's Meeting Services Manager in writing. Verbal requests will not be accepted.

The Hotel has agreed to match the per-diem rate, $195, which includes taxes and breakfast. Parking cost $10 per day, unlimited access to garage.

Directions from Airport to Caribbean District Office:
- Exit the airport on route 26 west towards San Juan
- Take the Bayamon / Santurce exit on route 22 west (tunnel)
- Take the Catano / Route 165 exit north
- At the first stop light, turn left
- Enter GSA Center at the second possible right turn

Informative Tips about Puerto Rico trip:

Matt Larson, District Chief, said his folks wear light slacks/polo-type or short sleeve shirts while in the office. No shorts and sandals! He recommends that you wear slacks for the field trip since there is brush/mud that you will not be able to avoid. Matt also recommends that you wear older clothes if you plan to go to the field.

We will break at 11:30 for lunch each day to avoid the crowds.

Matt and his staff are looking forward to our visit. Please do your homework so that it is a rewarding visit for their staff.

For those using the FTS 2001 calling card to reach your office. From Puerto Rico you must call 1.800.888.8000 to use your account. The number printed on the back of the card is not valid outside the 50 United States. Additionally, my cell phone account (SBC) is good for the 50 states but not Puerto Rico.

In respect to the request to not fuss with e-mail during the meeting, the Wyndham Old San Juan does have high speed internet access. If you are a member of the "Wyndham by Request" club then the internet access is a no cost item. You can sign up for this free service at www.wyndham.com and get a membership number. Central reservations at 1.800.WYNDHAM can then your update reservation before your arrival.

In case you do not connect at the airport for a car pool, there are cabs outside baggage claim and I was told the cost is $16 from the airport to the hotel and is approximately a 20 minute ride.

Please coordinate your carpool to get from the airport to the Hotel. See itineraries below for available carpools.

The Hotel does not have a shuttle to/from the airport.

A taxi cap ride will run you about $16. It should not be a problem but its always safer to ask for the price before you ride just in case.
