USGS Water Resources Applications Software: LOADEST

LOADEST Download Page

Installation files for LOADEST may be downloaded from this page.

Please consult the documentation and FAQ for additional information on software distribution and installation.

IMPORTANT NOTE: LOADEST can produce biased load estimates when the selected model is a poor representation of the relationship between load and the explanatory variables. Problems with load bias may be identified through careful analyses of model residuals. LOADEST has therefore been modified since its initial release to include several features that facilitate residual analysis and bias identification. This updated version of the software was placed on the web site on March 27, 2013. LOADEST users who downloaded the software prior to this date are encouraged to download the updated version. A summary of the software update is provided here.

Follow these steps to download the LOADEST installation files:

Step 1:  Enter your email address

Email Address:

Note: Entry of your email address is optional. If you enter your email address we can contact you regarding new software releases and bug fixes. Your email address will not be shared with third parties.

Step 2:  Specify your operating system/hardware platform

Operating System/Hardware Platform:

  1. The Windows/Intel version of LOADEST should run under most versions of Microsoft Windows.
  2. If your operating system/hardware platform is "Other", you will not be able to download the executable installation file in Step 3. See the LOADEST documentation and FAQ for information on compiling the software.

Step 3:  Select the installation files you wish to download

Check the applicable boxes:

Download executable (not applicable if you specified "Other" in Step 2)
Download example applications
Download source code

  1. Most LOADEST users will want to download the executable and example applications installation files. Pre-compiled executables are available for Linux/Intel and Windows/Intel; the source code installation file is therefore not needed for these operating systems/hardware platforms.
  2. If you specified "Other" in Step 2, you will not be able to download the executable installation file. You may therefore want to download the source code installation file for compilation purposes (see the LOADEST documentation and FAQ).

Step 4:  Download the installation files
