Kansas is preeminently an agricultural state. According to the United States census of 1910, the area in farms was 43,384,799 acres, or 67,789 square miles, 83 per cent of the total area of the state —82,158 square miles. Hydrometric work carried on in co-operation with the United States Geological Survey: Chapter 3 in Twelfth biennial report of the State Engineer to the governor of Utah: 1919-1920

The work of collecting stream flow data in Utah during the past two years has been continued under co-operative agreement between the State Engineer and the United States Geological Survey.  Details of this agreement have been fully outlines in the previous reports of the State Engineer.
