PEST Observation Results Pane

The PEST Observation Results pane is on the Data Visualization dialog box. It is used to import observation results into ModelMuse and to configure how these results are displayed in ModelMuse. The PEST Observation Results pane is displayed by selecting PEST Observation Results on the Data Visualization dialog box.

File name is the name of the file that contains the head observation results. To delete the head observations from ModelMuse, delete the file name.

If the Show residuals|Show Weighted residuals check box is checked, the residuals or weighted residuals will be displayed in the top view of ModelMuse.

Filters are used to control which individual head observations will be displayed. The user can filter by the time, residual, or layer using the Minimum residual, Maximum residual, Minimum time, Maximum time, Minimum weighted residual or Maximum weighted residual controls. If the Limit to check box is checked for any of the filters, that filter will be applied and the user will be able to enter a value for the filter. For example if the Minimum residual filter is in use and has a value of -0.5, only observations with a residual larger than -0.5 will be displayed.

When the residuals are displayed, different colors are used for the positive and negative residuals. The Color for negative residuals and Color for positive residuals combo boxes are used to select what these colors will be.

The Maximum symbol size is used to control the sizes of the symbols used to display the the residuals and is measured in pixels.

The table on the Values tab displays the observation results that were read from the residuals file and also the time (if applicable) and object associated with each observation. The observations are sorted based on the absolute value of the weighted residual.

The data in the table can be sorted by clicking the column header of the data type that will be used for sorting the data.

The user can select one or more cells in the table and copy the selected cells to the clipboard. To select multiple cells, select on cells by clicking on it and then hold down the Shift key and click on another cell. This can be useful as a way of transferring the data to a spreadsheet program. The entire table can be copied by clicking the Copy to clipboard button. The user can not change any of the data in the table. The only way to change the data is to import a new head observations results file.

When the user clicks the Apply button, any changes made in the dialog box are applied to the model. In addition, if there is a newer version of the file or files containing the head observation results, the user will be asked whether the newer file should be imported.

If the Highlight selected objects button is clicked, the objects in the selected rows of the table on the Values tab will be selected and the view will be shifted to put the object in the highlighted row in the center of the top, front, or side view of the ModelMuse main window.

The Graph tab displays a graph of either simulated values, residual, or weighted residual vs. observed values. If the user clicks on a point in the graph, the view will be shifted to put the object associated with the graph point in the center of the top, front, or side view of the ModelMuse main window and the object will be selected.
