The Farm Climate dialog box is used to specify a time series of climate data. The dialog box is displayed by selecting Model|Farm Process|Farm Climate... The Farm Climate dialog box can only be displayed if Rooting depth (IRTFL) is set to Calculated (3), or Precipitation (IPFL) is set to Climate time series (3), or Consumptive use (ICUFL) is set to Calculated (3).

The climate data that are required are the maximum and minimum temperature, the precipitation, and the reference evapotranspiration. These data are described in Schmid and others (2006) starting on p. 48.

The climate data are used to calculate consumptive use (potential crop evapotranspiration), root depth, and precipitation using empirical equations. IRTFL, IPFL, and ICUFL determine which ones are calculated.

Most commonly, the Penman-Monteith estimate of potential evapotranspiration is used as a reference evapotranspiration.
