The Export Objects to Shapefile dialog box is used to export the geometry of objects and formulas for data sets or some MODFLOW Features to a Shapefile. The Export Objects to Shapefile dialog box is displayed by selecting File|Export|Shapefile|Objects to Shapefile...
To export the objects, do the following
1.Select the data sets or features to export in the tree control on the left (Data sets to export).
2.Select the objects to export in the tree control in the middle (Objects to export). Only objects that set the values of one or more of the selected data sets will be listed in this tree control.
3.If you are exporting MODFLOW features (except Horizontal Flow Barriers), you also need to select the times to export.
4.If you wish to export the object name or its elevation formulas, use the appropriate check boxes.
5.If you wish to export the values to a comma-separated value (CSV) file instead of to Shapefile attributes, make that selection with the Data export method radio buttons. if there a a large number of data values to export, exporting the a CSV file will generally work even if exporting to Shapefile attributes does not.
6.Select the type of Shape you want to export using the radio buttons in the Export as box. Only the radio buttons for types compatible with all the selected objects will be enabled.
•Point shapes have only a single vertex. This option is only available if all the objects are point objects
•Multipoint shapes have one or more vertices but have no line segments connecting the vertices. This option is always available.
•Polyline shapes have one or more vertices and may have line segments connecting some of the vertices. This option is always available.
•Polygon shapes consist entirely of one or more polygons. This option is only available if all the sections of all the selected objects represent polygons. If any of the polygons in an object intersects another polygon in the same object, the polygons will be restructured so that they do not overlap.
7.Choose a value to represent missing data in the Missing data value edit box.
8.Click the OK button.
If all the objects that are exported have simple numeric or true/false values for their formulas for the exported data sets, those values will be exported as numeric values. (True will be exported as 1; false will be exported as 0.) If any of the formulas is something other than a numeric or true/false value, all the formulas will be exported as text. Formulas for MODFLOW features are always exported as text.
Shapefiles exported from ModelMuse do not contain information about the projection used for the model. You may need to supply the projection to use the Shapefile correctly.
