About the Aquifer

The Cambrian-Ordovician Aquifer is one of the principal aquifers being studied by NAWQA for ground-water status and trends.

The Cambrian-Ordovician Aquifer is comprised of multiple aquifer units interbedded with leaky confining units. Geologic materials composing the aquifer are primarily sandstone and shale.

Planning

Regional data synthesis for the Cambrian-Ordovician aquifer is being coordinated through the Glacial Aquifer Planning Team, led by Kelly Warner. The Cambrian-Ordovician aquifer lies beneath a central portion of the Glacial aquifer. Because of the potential for ground-water interaction between the two aquifers, data for each aquifer will be analyzed and compared.
