tkg2 Hydrographs
Name:
tkg2 Hydrographs - Using tkg2 to create fancy hydrographs outside of ADAPS.
Information:
Although ADAPS produces decent hydrographs, there are many enhancements that can be done using scripting and tkg2 templates outside of ADAPS. As anyone knows who has ever walked into a office different than their own, hydrographs are very variable from place to place. As such, the hydrographs on this page are an example of some of those used around the country. Feel free to submit your own if it looks different or has features not in these. All of these scripts work basically the same way. There is a script that is run to prompt the user for the needed data, and one or more tkg2 template files that contain the detailed plotting information. If you have never used a tkg2 script before, give one of these a try. They are easy and look great!
To install any of these, simply have the OSW Scripts package installed on your server by someone with root access, then type the name of the script to begin. No arguments are needed.
- The Montana Hydrograph:
- Script file: get_mt_hydro
- Templates: hydro2004.tkg2
- Notes: This hydrograph plots for any data range:
- base site final daily values (with dates as prompted)
- discharge measurements
- base site computed daily values (optional, with separate date selection)
- one reference site (optional)
- temperature max/min (optional)
- Users are also prompted for discharge scale max/min and for plot size (default is 11x8.5).
- The hydrograph has 5-day grid lines and the temperature data are plotted within the main hydrograph above the flow data.
- The Maine Hydrograph:
- Script file: get_me_hydro
- Templates: me_hydroF.tkg2, me_hydroC.tkg2, me_hydro.tkg2
Notes: This hydrograph plots for any data range:
- base site final daily values (estimated data shown in red)
- discharge measurements
- base site computed daily values
- one reference site (optional)
- temperature max/min and precipitation (optional, but must be yes or no to both)
- the maximum instantaneous discharge for the year
- Users are also prompted for discharge scale max/min and plot size (default is 17x11)
- The hydrograph has 5-day grid lines and the temperature and precip data are plotted in separate graphs below the main hydrograph.
